It is with great excitement that the NMBC has started construction of the lower portion of the Fine China trail. The club was able to secure grant funding from the Nanaimo Hospitality Association and Nanaimo Tourism to assist with the construction of the trail.
About The Construction
Bill Mclane and Mason Mcgarrigle are our main contractors for this project. The trail layout was completed with the NMBC trail committee, Mason, Bill, as well as the woodlot manager Rick Heikilla, earlier this year.
The new section will add over 1km to Nanaimo’s favorite fast-and-flowy trail. The new addition will start by the motocross track parking area on the and finish on the gravel road just below the Benson Creek trail on the south side of Weigles Road.
Please Keep An Eye Out For Vandalism
On a more serious note, it’s important that we work together as trail enthusiasts to prevent damage to the trail and developers during construction to avoid setbacks and costly damages. We have already had some difficulty with someone removing our pin flagging, which is placed there to represent the proposed trail route. We ask that all members please keep an eye out when in the area. As curious as you may be, please stay away from the active construction site, especially when there is a machine there.
If you happen to notice anything suspicious, please report it directly to the club at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can respond accordingly.
