NMBC Certifies 10 New Chainsaw Operators

In November, the NMBC hosted a Basic Chainsaw Operators course to certify another diverse group of active trail leaders to maintain our trail networks.

As per the NMBC’s land use agreement, only certified chainsaw operators are able to clear trail where land use agreements are in place. The course effectively prepares attendees with the basics of how to operate a chainsaw, what protection equipment is required, and how to safely address different scenarios of fallen trees.

By certifying more operators, the NMBC will be better equipped to respond to trail reports of fallen trees and obstacles blocking trails.

Preference for this course is given to those with chainsaws who are actively helping to maintain trails in the region. If you are interested in this course, please email trails@nanaimomountainbikeclub.com for more information.
