Meet The Team

OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

2023/2024 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The board of directors are the decision makers behind club direction and policy. They work with closely with local stakeholders and policymakers, including local, provincial, and federal governments, local businesses, and tourism operators to help grow mountain bike access and infrastructure.

The board meets monthly and each board member commits roughly 3 – 10+ hours per month depending on the role and season. All roles are currently filled by volunteers. 

We have vacancies on the board – if you’re eager to join the board, let us know! We’re looking for all kinds of expertise and experience.

SPENCER BRAWN

PRESIDENT

  • Looks for new opportunities to create promotional material to increase club revenues and drive organization awareness
  • Collaborates to provide strategic direction of the Club.
  • Liaises with regional landowners to foster co-operative relationships to maintain access to land for trail development and maintenance. Also works closely with Trails Director to manage trail development.

JEFFREY VAN SANTEN

VICE-PRESIDENT

  • Work with Club Executive to prepare funding proposals
  • Remain informed of club activities to best identify the club’s funding needs
  • Work with Club Executive to search out funding opportunities that are relevant to club activities

  • Manages and maintains board records
  • Manages board meeting minutes
  • Is sufficiently familiar with legal documents (e.g. articles, by-laws) to note their applicability during meetings.

CONNOR CLAUSEN

TREASURER

  • Oversees financial affairs of the organization, including reconciling bank statements and managing cash flow.

EVENTS DIRECTOR

  • Organizes races and community events in Nanaimo on behalf of the Club. 
  • Increases revenue streams for the Club through races and events. 

MATHEW MORAN

TRAIL DIRECTOR

  • Provides strategic direction on trail building
  • Advocates for sustainable and well-managed trail networks throughout Nanaimo
  • Participates in trail building and maintenance activities

ARAVAN EAGLEHEART

TRAIL DIRECTOR

  •  Provides strategic direction on trail building
  • Advocates for sustainable and well-managed trail networks throughout Nanaimo
  • Participates in trail building and maintenance activities

FAYE TUCK

SOCIAL MEDIA + COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

  • Manages social media accounts (Instagram/ Facebook) including:
  • Answers questions on social media from members and community
  • Creates, curates, and manages published content for use on social media
  • Manages club websites
  • Writes press release & newsletters to members
  • First line of communication with the public and media
  • Emails communications out to member list

KELLY MORGAN

SPONSORSHIP + GRANTS DIRECTOR

  • Manage communication with local businesses and facilitate financial and in-kind sponsorships
  • Reach out to larger brands to generate revenue opportunities for the Club
  • Assist in event partnership and sponsorship
  • Researches grant opportunities that provide the Club with additional funding.
  • Collaborates with Club executives to draft and submit Grants to various organizations.
