Announcing Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club’s New Brand Identity

We are excited and proud to announce the launch of our new logo as part of an ongoing evolution of the club’s brand and identity.

Our organization has grown and evolved so much in recent years that many felt it was time for a change. We have refreshed our logo to reflect the new direction of the club, while keeping the same name to hold true to our roots.

After careful consideration, we chose a new logo that reflects a more modern look that’s as distinctive and unique as we are. However, a logo alone doesn’t define a brand. It’s what we pair with this new logo that will ultimately dictate what we stand for, be it through trail days, events, signage, photography, social media, and of course, group rides.

A lot has changed in the past few years. We’ve established great partnerships with the city, regional district, tourism industry, and private landowners, to take the organization in an exciting direction at the forefront of trail advocacy. We’re focused on establishing land-use agreements to bring our authorized network of trails up to Whistler Trail Standards, ensuring a safe, diverse, and high-quality riding experience for locals and visitors alike. Ultimately, we are headed in the same direction as many organizations before us, including the United Riders of Cumberland (UROC), Squamish Off Road Cycling Association (SORCA), and the North Shore Mountain Biking Association (NSMBA).

Why orange? It’s bright and unique. Most other trail organizations in the pacific northwest feature green (or shades of green) with chainrings, mountains, and so on. A logo should be simple, memorable, and shouldn’t depend on these additional graphics to tell it’s narrative. Furthermore, with many of our images boasting heavy amounts of green from the beautiful wooded landscapes that surround us, orange presents a great contrast. It was important to us that we created a logo that was desirable. That when it was place on signage, water bottles, t-shirts, and letterheads alike, that it emanates a sense of pride, reminding us of our accomplishments and generates excitement for our future.

The task in the upcoming months will be to roll out a new website and create fresh swag that’s just as awesome as the cause it supports.
