The Nanaimo Mountian Bike Club was recently awarded $31,104 from the Nanaimo Hospitality Association to extend the lower portion of Fine China on Doumont. This huge contribution, in addition to donations in-kind, will help the club extend the popular trail and could open the door for more competitions and tourism.
Miranda, the club’s Director of Grant Application, with help from the previous board of executives, assembled and submitted the grant request on October 27. By November 13, we were informed that the application was improved in full! We’d like to extend a huge thank-you Miranda and team for your efforts!
The Grant That Could Keep On Giving
Once the extension is complete, there could be additional funding available to the club to host a large event on Fine China, which could also include advertising revenue to help attract attendees from outside the city.
About The Nanaimo Hospitality Grant
Funds for the grant are collected from accommodations across the city by means of the Accommodation Tax (also known as the Municipal or Regional District Tax), to support the growth of overnight visitation in the region. By helping us grow our infrastructure, they’ll benefit as well from the increase in tourism.
